about

When conceived and released in 2003 by Jan Ström (Ayler Records' founder), the Jimmy Lyons' box set was (and remains to this day) the most complete available accounting of an artist who never recorded enough as a leader and was never fully appreciated in his lifetime.
This digital edition presents 2+ hours of the music from it, carefully selected by Mathieu Demontès, and showcasing 7 tracks in solo, trio and quartet settings.

The physical 5-CD box comes with 28 tracks and 6+ hours of music and includes a 60-page booklet with liner notes by Jan Ström, Ben Young & Ed Hazell and photographs by Chris Green, Jerry Kambisis, Lona Foote, Maryanne Driscoll, Nils Edström & Willard Taylor.
